The Ranking of Companies in Spain classifies companies according to their sales figures, which are obtained based on the individual financial statements filed by the company with the Mercantile Registry, with a closing date between July of the year under study and June of the following year (a 12-month period).
The INFORMA D&B Database, from which the data has been obtained, is fed by multiple sources of information, both public and private, such as the BORME (Official Gazette of the Mercantile Registry), official account filings, BOE (Official State Gazette), provincial and regional official bulletins, national and regional press, ad hoc investigations, and various publications.

In 2022, Cepsa positioned itself as the company with the highest revenue volume in the Spanish chemical sector. Repsol, another firm linked to the oil sector, closely followed. Both companies recorded revenues exceeding * billion U.S. dollars.
