The largest increase in sales in the fashion industry in Spain compared to the same month of the previous year occurred in January 2022, with an increase close to percent. Considering this data, the situation experienced by the sector during 2020 seems to be very far behind. The notable drop in sales during the months of March, April, and May stood out, coinciding with the population lockdown as part of the Government's measures to try to curb the spread of COVID-19. Specifically, sales in April decreased by almost percent compared to the same month in 2019. The data includes the sectors of men's, women's, and children's clothing, home textiles, and accessories. The decline persisted throughout much of 2021, with the last four months showing a glimmer of hope as sales growth, although slow, remained steady and, as can be seen, strengthened in 2022 and much of 2023. 2024, on the other hand, was a divided year. For six months, although not consecutive, sales increased, experiencing the highest growth in October with an increase close to percent; during the other six months, the situation was the opposite, with the worst figure in March. So far, 2025 seems to continue this negative trend. Indeed, except for February thanks to sales promotions, sales in March fell by percent.
