The index measures the level of peace in countries and is composed of 23 quantitative and qualitative indicators, each weighted on a scale from 1 to 5. The lower the score, the more peaceful the country is.

In the latest edition of the Global Peace Index (GPI), Russia and Ukraine appear as the least peaceful countries in the world, a result directly linked to the prolonged conflict between them.
