With approximately ** hectares, Ivory Coast is by far the country with the largest cultivated area of cocoa harvested in the world. It is therefore not surprising that it is the leading producer of this food. Indonesia and Ghana rank second and third, respectively. It is noteworthy, however, that Ecuador, the third largest global cocoa producer and the main one in America, ranks seventh with around ** hectares, being surpassed by Brazil by more than * hectares, even though Brazil produces less than half the annual volume generated by Ecuadorian farmers.
