* PM10 are small solid or liquid particles of dust, ash, soot, metallic particles, cement, or pollen dispersed in the atmosphere, with a diameter less than 10 µm (1 micrometer corresponds to one-thousandth of 1 millimeter). They are mainly composed of inorganic compounds such as silicates and aluminates, heavy metals among others, and organic material associated with carbon particles (soot).
The microgram per cubic meter is the unit in which most of the Reference Values for pollutants are expressed in Spanish and European air quality legislation, and it is also the unit in which measurement results available to the public are usually expressed.
