During the second quarter of 2020, the gross domestic product (GDP) of the manufacturing sector in Mexico experienced the worst decline in its history due to the health emergency caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. From April to June 2020, the GDP in this sector did not reach *** trillion Mexican pesos, representing a decrease of approximately **** percent compared to the value recorded in the same quarter of the previous year. However, a rapid recovery of this industry has caused the values to exceed * trillion for the first time in its history from the second quarter of 2022 to the first quarter of 2024.
