This statistic shows the evolution of the number of abandoned or mistreated animals taken in by the structures of the Society for the Protection of Animals in France, from 2012 to 2024. After a drastic increase in abandonments from 2012 to 2016, they tend to stabilize over the period 2016-2024, despite the negative peaks in 2017 and 2020. In total, there were more than million domestic cats in France in 2020.
