Supplementary notes

* The GIR is the level of loss of autonomy of an elderly person. It is calculated based on the assessment carried out using the AGGIR scale. The GIR assessment determines whether an elderly person is eligible for the APA (personalized autonomy allowance).
There are 6 levels of loss of autonomy: GIR 1 is the highest level of loss of autonomy and GIR 6 is the lowest level of loss of autonomy.

- GIR 1: people confined to bed, whose mental faculties are severely impaired, and who require continuous presence of caregivers. People at the end of life.
- GIR 2: people confined to bed or wheelchair, whose mental faculties are not completely impaired, and who need assistance for most daily living activities. People with impaired mental functions but who have retained their ability to move.
- GIR 3: people who have retained their mental faculties but need help several times a day with personal care.
- GIR 4: people who cannot transfer themselves alone (for example, getting up from a chair alone) but who, once standing, can move around inside the home. They sometimes need help with bathing and dressing. People who have no problem moving but need help with personal care and meal preparation.
- GIR 5: people who may need occasional help with bathing and household activities: meal preparation, cleaning…
- GIR 6: people who are autonomous for all important daily living activities.
