This statistic presents the number of factory farms by region in France in 2023. A factory farm, according to Greenpeace, is an agricultural operation characterized by a very high number of animals concentrated in a limited space, not allowing for the production of food for the animals or proper management of waste. These farms are generally associated with intensive farming, where the focus is on maximizing production at the expense of animal welfare and the environment.

Brittany has largely adopted this farming model in its territory. Greenpeace had recorded more than 1,400 factory farms in the area compared to about 500 in Pays-de-la-Loire, the second region in the ranking.
