Of the total amount of water withdrawn for agricultural, industrial, and municipal purposes in Nigeria, agricultural water withdrawal occupied the largest proportion. In 2020, this amounted to around 5.5 billion cubic meters. The volumes of industrial and municipal water withdrawals were comparatively lower, at around two and five billion cubic meters, respectively.
