Since 2000, the crude death rate has remained below eight deaths per 1,000 population. The exception was the year 2020 when the value was above 9.86 deaths, with the COVID-19 pandemic being the contributing factor to this increase. In 2023, the death rate for the community of Madrid was 7.01 deaths.
