In Portugal, as of 2023, from the 16,559 elective voluntary interruptions of pregnancy, unskilled workers composed the most representative group of women who chose to have this procedure, at a share of almost 21 percent. Women working in administration or services followed, with 19 percent as share. Students composed 15 percent of the women who opted for an abortion in the country.
