The source does add that men, younger people, and Black Americans were more likely than the other surveyed group to use such a virtual currency. It should be noted that at the time of the survey, the concept of a CBDC was still relatively new in the United States. The U.S. Fed announced only in November 2022 it would actively research such a coin in a proof-of-concept pilot. This was much later than other countries researching CBDC. By the end of 2022, more than 100 countries across the world were involved in the creation of their own CBDC. According to the source, nearly half of all respondents to its survey had not yet formed an opinion on the matter - as the majority did not know yet where a CBDC was.
