The Unidad de Fomento (UF), or Development Unit, is a Chilean inflation-indexed unit of account. Its value is adjusted daily based on changes in the Consumer Price Index (CPI), as determined by the Central Bank of Chile. It is widely used for real estate prices, mortgages, rents, insurance policies, and other financial transactions to preserve the real value of money against inflation.
