From January 2023, office buildings in the Netherlands will need to have an energy certificate C or better to meet the new sustainability requirements. As of the end of 2021, there were * square meters of office space that were labeled D or worse and square meters that were unlabeled but did not meet the requirements. Meanwhile, square meters of office space were labeled C or better and had met the criteria but were yet to be labeled. Certain types of offices were exempt, such as offices smaller than 100 square meters, buildings with heritage status, or offices that were due to be demolished within two years.
