In 2021, over four thousand pregnant women living with HIV in Haiti received antiretroviral drugs to prevent mother-to-child transmission, the highest number for this group of women among other Latin American and Caribbean countries. That year, more than one thousand pregnant women living with the virus in Mexico and Peru had received antiretroviral medicine to prevent HIV perinatal transmission.
