The peak hour was defined as the busiest hour of each railway station. Off-peak hours were from 11 am to 4 pm.
The transfer distance was calculated as the total of horizontal and vertical distance passed.

In 2015, Japan's Kinki Metropolitan Region had the highest average transfer speeds for passengers in railway stations, with **** meters per minute during peak hours and **** meters per hour during off-peak hours. Ironically, railway passengers in the Kinki Area also had the longest average transfer time.
