In the survey, the Greater Tokyo Area comprised the following prefectures: Tokyo, Kanagawa, Saitama, Chiba, Ibaraki, Gunma, Tochigi, and Yamanashi. Moreover, the survey limited the area to municipalities meeting the following criteria:
Railway commute time within 120-minutes to Tokyo Station.
At least a three-percent share of commuters, but at least 500 people, working or attending school in the 23 special wards of Tokyo.
The start or end of the survey subjects' railway travel had to be within the survey area.
Ticket figures have been totaled after rounding them. Accordingly, the traffic of some operators turned to zero.
