*Section 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation concerns a) the use of violence or the threat of its use; 2) the use of arms or special means; 3) with the infliction of grave consequences by national enforcement authorities against civilians.
The percentages were calculated manually by subdividing the number of convicted persons by court decisions.
"Incarceration / Other" figures were derived by deducting all other options from 100 percent.

In 2022, acquittals for police officers convicted of brutality under Section 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Russia were issued in nearly five percent of cases. That was ** times more often than the share of such verdicts for all articles of the Criminal Code. Almost ** percent of the convicts from national enforcement authorities avoided a real sentence by being given a suspended sentence or fine.
