Figures are based on an annual survey. The survey for fiscal year 2023 was conducted among 65 terrestrial broadcasting operators, 21 satellite broadcasting and cable television operators, as well as 31 production companies.
The category of broadcasting contents encompasses program broadcasting rights, online streaming rights, video and DVD rights, program format and remake rights, merchandising rights, as well as other rights. Since fiscal year 2016, merchandising rights explicitly include video game rights. In cases where broadcasting rights are sold in tandem with other rights and the differentiation of the sales value cannot be clearly made, those rights are counted as broadcasting rights.
