As of 2020, 8.4 percent of the natural gas imported into the European Union (EU) was from Algeria. The percentage of Algerian natural gas imports into the EU increased compared to the previous years, after peaking at over 12 percent in 2016. Algeria was among the main natural gas suppliers to the EU in 2020. Russia led the ranking, accounting for a share of around 43 percent.
