A study published by UNESCO in February 2022 analyzed the gender distribution of heads at national arts or cultural councils worldwide. According to the report, organizations in Eastern Europe reported the highest share of female directors, who accounted for 67 percent of the total in 2020. In contrast, 100 percent of heads at national arts or cultural councils in the Arab countries were male that year.
