As of January 11, 2022, holders of the Ethiopian passport did not require a visa, were able to obtain a visa on arrival, a visitor's permit, or an electronic travel authority to 45 countries. In 2014, the score for the country slightly dropped, and in 2015 even further. However, in 2016 the visa-free score registered an increase. Overall, the visa-free score of Ethiopia increased during the period under review.
