Between 1957 and 2025, Egypt was the most successful African national team, having won the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) seven times. Cameroon and Ghana followed achieving five and four titles, respectively. Moreover, eight other African countries managed to secure the title once. The 35th edition took place in Morocco, with the host nation featuring in the final, however, losing to Senegal.
