European countries are the leading trade partners of Algeria. In 2019, France was the leading import origin, accounting for over 510 billion Algerian dinars (around 3.7 billion U.S. dollars) of imports. Italy, Spain, and Germany followed as main import partners. In the same year, the European Union accounted for 44 percent of Algeria's imports.
