The share of children receiving child support grant in South Africa increased between 2014 and 2018, from 61.3 percent to 68.2 percent. As of 2018, children in Eastern Cape were the most covered by the grant. Limpopo followed with 78.5 percent of children receiving the support. Across all the regions, the share of grant receivers increased during the period under review. The child support grant intends to help parents in the lower-income brackets with expenditures related to their child's basic needs.
