In 2020, travel and tourism contributed 5.5 percent to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in Cote d'Ivoire. This meant a value added of nearly 4.7 trillion U.S. dollars. The sector's contribution declined considerably in comparison to the preceding year, mainly due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Before the outbreak, tourism had a share of 10.4 percent of the country's GDP, which represented around 9.2 trillion U.S. dollars.
