Platform drivers refer to workers in the mobility service sector who find customers via an app or website and provide a paid service. Car sharing companies such as Uber and OLA provide such services in India.

In 2019, research carried out on the platform economy in India suggested that platform drivers had significantly higher earnings than non-platform drivers. While more than ** percent of platform drivers reported earning more than 1,000 Indian rupees per day, non-platform drivers were usually able to earn only up to 1,000 rupees daily.
