The European questionnaire on Information and Communication Technologies Data reveals that there exists a disparity between the internet usage of people from different age groups. This disparity although present in most countries, differs widely in its severity.
In 2020, 57 percent of users in the European Union between 16 and 24 years uploaded self-created content, like videos, photos, music, or texts. Users between the age of 25 and 34 were nine percent less likely to upload self-created content. Only 38 percent of people between 35 and 44 did so in 2020. The share of people between 45 and 54 were even lower with only 31 percent. The lowest share of users to use the internet in this manner can be found among 55 and 64-year old’s among which only 22 percent shared their own content online.
