More than half of the population in Canada between 55 and 64 years had attained a tertiary education as of 2024, making it the OECD country with the highest proportion of tertiary education graduates in that age group. Israel followed with about 45.6 percent. By comparison, roughly 9.7 percent of South African citizens between 55 and 64 years had a tertiary education as of 2024.
