According to a survey in 2021 aimed at assessing the extent to which high school students are confronted with breaches of the principle of religious neutrality during their schooling, more than half of French high school students have already been confronted with some form of religious expression in their school environment. The most frequently observed form of expression of religious identity, both by students and teachers, is the request by some students to be served menus that conform to religious practices (e.g., halal, kosher, etc.), with ** percent of students reporting this, and ** percent of teachers.
