In 2019, local consumers spent nearly 171 billion Colombian pesos during Carnival season in Barranquilla, Colombia – or approximately 51 million U.S. dollars, at the exchange rates of December 31 of that year. Meanwhile tourists, both domestic and international, spent another 47 billion Colombian pesos during the period. On average, the per capita spending of tourists during Carnival amounted to 774 thousand pesos.
