In 2024, there were over 322,000 newly registered companies and some 286,000 cancellations in Italy. That year, there were in total about 5.87 million registered enterprises. Between 2006 and 2024, the number of new enterprises in the country decreased. Roughly 290,000 firms were newly registered in 2020, which was the lowest value during the period under consideration. According to regional data, Lombardy, Campania, and Lazio counted the largest number of firms nationwide.
