**The source adds the following information: "the IRI CPG Demand Indexâ„¢ provides a standard metric for tracking changes in spending on consumer packaged goods. It measures weekly changes in consumer purchases, by value sales, against the year-ago period. The IRI CPG Demand Indexâ„¢ is calculated from point of sales data of measured retail channels which include supermarkets inclusive of online sales."
The source also specifies that an index level lower than 100 indicates a decline in demand, while a level higher than 100 indicates growth.
