The Tokyo Islands refer to a group of islands which belong administratively to the metropolis. They are located in the Pacific Ocean, spreading over more than one thousand kilometers from the seat of the Metropolitan Government.
"Gross tonnage" is a measurement of the size of a ship as determined by the "International Convention on tonnage measurement of ships" and is calculated via a logarithmic formula that includes all enclosed spaces of a ship in cubic meters.
