As of 2018/2019, the gross production value of pineapples in South Africa was estimated at roughly 253 million South African Rands (nearly 15.8 million U.S. dollars), an increase in comparison to the previous year. From 2000, the gross production value has followed an increasing trend. At that year, the indicator was at approximately 106.4 million Rands (around 6.6 million U.S. dollars). In 2015/2016, a peak of 362.6 million Rands (22.6 million U.S. dollars) was registered.
