Appalachia recorded the highest monthly new-well natural gas production per rig in the period of consideration, reaching some 20.8 million cubic feet per day as of August 2020. The Appalachia basin is situated across the states of New York, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia. This basin was the most productive region as well. In the period of consideration, Haynesville had the second highest monthly new-well gas production per rig, with production at 10.8 million cubic feet per day in August 2020.
