Up until April 7 of 2020, the estimated losses in retail revenue among closed commercial establishments in ten major Brazilian states amounted to 53.3 billion Brazilian reals. The state of São Paulo, the most affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in Brazil, recorded the highest losses in retail sales, with an estimate of 25.64 billion Brazilian reals. Closed retail establishments in Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro generated sales losses for 8.34 and 6.75 billion Brazilian reals, respectively.
