Since the first victim of Coronavirus (COVID-19) was confirmed in Italy as of the 20th February 2020, the audience share of evening public newscasts increased significantly. Although a peak of the audience share for the Italian news channel TG1 was recorded during the Sanremo music festival, the public news channel registered over 6.7 million people audience on the 24th of February. A growth was also found for the newscasts broadcasted by TG2 and TG3.
