The U.S. ban on Russian energy imports
On March 8, 2022, the U.S. government announced a ban on imports of oil, liquefied natural gas (LNG), and coal from Russia in response to the
Russian invasion of Ukraine. Furthermore, the prohibition included new U.S. investment in the Russian energy industry as well as financing foreign companies that invested in energy production in Russia.
