Electric vehicles contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. In Belgium, the number of electric (tanker) trucks and vans on the road increased annually. In 2007, roughly 50 electric trucks and vans were in use in Belgium, whereas by 2020 this increased to a total of more than 1,500. In terms of the number of charging stations for electric vehicles, Belgium had nearly 7,500 charging stations in 2020, whereas neighboring countries the Netherlands and Luxembourg had roughly 58,000 and 1,000 charging stations.
