By 2024, the Federal Agency on Atomic Energy of Russia (Rosatom) aimed to increase the volume of cargo transported through the Northern Sea Route to **** million metric tons. Liquefied natural gas and gas condensate were expected to be the major type of freight to be shipped in that year, with their quantity measured at ** million metric tons. Moreover, shipping volumes of ** million metric tons of coal and over ** million metric tons of oil were planned.
