* The study analyzed 2.1 billion Russian-language messages in social media (Vkontakte, Odnoklassniki, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, blogs, forums, public messenger channels, and comments to news articles) from August 15 to September 15, 2019. In 124 thousand messages, podcasts were mentioned.
While investigating popular topics and listening scenarios, the study considered messages where authors shared personal experience (e.g. "I listen to").

Distribution of podcast topics in Russia 2019, by online mentions
The most mentioned topic of podcasts in social media in Russia was sports, which was discussed in ** percent of total messages mentioning particular categories between mid-August and mid-September 2019. Literature broadcasts ranked second, occupying a share of ** percent over the same period. In seven percent of mentions, online users shared their experience of listening to podcasts about psychology.
