"Trunk lines" in air transportation refers to the main routes connecting the trunk airports with one another, which includes the New Chitose Airport in Hokkaido, the Haneda Airport and Narita International Airport in Tokyo, the Itami Airport and Kansai International Airport in Osaka, the Fukuoka Airport in Fukuoka, and the Naha Airport in Okinawa.
Ton-kilometers = (Weight of transported cargo per route) x (Distance of route).
