Consumer interest in fruit and vegetable misfits in the Netherlands 2019
Vegetables and fruits that are perfectly edible, but slightly deviate from the standard norms are often thrown away or not harvested at all. According this survey, consumers in the Netherlands are not necessarily against buying these so-called 'misfits' though. When asked how important the appearance of fruit and vegetables was for them if the taste and freshness were in order, nearly half of the survey participants stated the look was not that important.
