The artist with the most nominations for MTV's Video Music Awards in 2019 were pop superstars Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift, who racked up ten nominations each for awards including 'Video of the Year', 'Song of the Year' and 'Best Art Direction'. Following closely behind with nine nominations was singer-songwriter Billie Eilish. The 17-year-old singer of viral hit 'Ocean Eyes' released her first album 'When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?' to critical acclaim in early 2019, and was nominated for the MTV VMA's 'Best New Artist' award among others.
