According to a survey conducted in Singapore in July 2019, around seven percent of the respondents stated that they drink soft drinks daily, while ** percent of the respondents stated that they consumed soft drinks monthly. Soft drinks usually contain a sweetener, which may be sugar, high-fructose corn syrup, fruit juice, a sugar substitute or some combination of these. In December 2018, the Singaporean Ministry of Health began a consultation exercise to seek the public's feedback on measures to fight diabetes, which included a ban on high-sugar packet drinks and the implementation of a sugar tax in Singapore.
