Electric utilities and infrastructure generated the majority of Duke Energy's operating revenue, at 26.9 billion U.S. dollars in fiscal year 2023. At that same time, the North Carolina-based electricity and natural gas provider reported operating revenues of around 2.3 billion U.S. dollars in its gas utilities and infrastructure segment.

In November 2022, Duke Energy committed to a plan to sell the Commercial Renewables Disposal Groups. The Commercial Renewables Disposal Groups were classified as held for sale and as discontinued operations in 2022, hence generated no revenue in 2022 and 2023.
