The UK's Energy Mix
The brought forward ban on selling new petrol and diesel cars dominated the headlines after Boris Johnson unveiled his plan for a "green industrial revolution" this week. There were however goals outlined which are arguably even more ambitious. One of which being to produce enough energy from offshore wind to power every home in the UK by 2030. As data from shows, renewables only accounted for 14.4 percent of the country's total primary energy consumption in 2019. The lion's share was generated using oil and natural gas (76 percent).
