In the lead up to the 2019 election there was cautious optimism on the left (Labour, at least) of a 'youthquake' unseating Boris Johnson in his constituency of Uxbridge and Ruislip South. The seat was created in 2010 and when it was handed over to Johnson for the 2015 election, it was safe Tory territory. In 2017 though, the now prime minister's majority was cut dramatically from 11 thousand to 5 thousand, leading to hopes in some quarters of Labour managing to grab the seat from him. In the end though, Labour's disastrous election night was somewhat mirrored in the prime minister's constituency, where Johnson - far from beaten - even managed to increase his share of the vote by 1.8 points, increasing his majority to 7 thousand.
